With the advent of technology, the role of computers in the humanities cannot be understated. Consequently, a new field, originally known as "humanities computing" -- now more widely recognized as "digital humanities" -- emerged to describe this interdisciplinary phenomenon.
Digital Humanities Expedition recognizes the plethora of digital humanities research that remains unorganized and attempts to create a centralized, constantly expanding hub offering examples and resources for those interested in the digital humanities. Furthermore, the website seeks to clarify the question "What are the digital humanities?" and to make sense of this rapidly evolving field. All 8-bit art was created using make8bitart.com. Wordclouds were generated with wordclouds.com. The following people (all UC Davis students) have contributed to either word cloud, and their participation is much appreciated:

Janelle Marie Salanga is a writer, coder, and poet from Tracy, California. She is currently pursuing a BS in Computer Science, alongside a minor in Asian American Studies at the University of California, Davis. A self-professed Gryffindor, she is interested in the intersection between technology and the arts, the second-generation American experience, growing up FIlipina in America, and the tenderness of growth.
You can find her on GitHub, Twitter, or Linkedin, or through email at [email protected]. She has also coded @pnpgratefulbot, which tweets two words from the Pride & Prejudice manuscript to be thankful for (currently out of commission -- code is on old laptop). |
